Vicente Iborra underlines that he has ‘very good feelings ahead of this upcoming season’

Vicente Iborra is expecting unity and hard work. Villarreal’s Valencian midfielder believes that last year’s suffering to stay in the top flight has strengthened the group ahead of this new season: “Every cloud has a silver lining. It’s true that we suffered a lot, but I think that we can take a lot of positives from it. You don’t get out of a situation like we were in last season without unity, without everyone fighting in the same direction. We have to maintain this spirit and strengthen it. We’re spending a lot of time together and strengthening our links. As well as a good team, we need to be a great group, which is almost more important,” he commented.

The Yellows No.10 emphasised that the team has a clear identity, beyond the changing of systems in certain matches: “We can line up in various systems, but we always need to have the ball. That has to be our main aim.”

With regards to him personally, Iborra highlighted that undergoing a pre-season with the team could help him a lot: “I arrived halfway through last season and now I’m undergoing a complete pre-season. I like to be involved in each club’s philosophy. The best way to pay back the trust is with hard work, commitment and professionalism. From the first day I knew where I was coming to. We’re all very excited. I’ve got very good feelings ahead of this upcoming season.”

To conclude, Iborra was sure that he will try and bring a lot to the team regardless of where he plays on the pitch: “In recent matches, I’ve played higher up the pitch. I want to play and to help the team, regardless of the position.”
