Rodrigo and Fornals participated in Spain U21 win and Bakambu scored against Tunisia

Four Villarreal players are currently away on international duty; Bakambu, Ünal, Rodrigo and Fornals have all been called up to represent their countries.

Rodrigo and Fornals both stood out for Spain U21 against Italy, which finished in a resounding victory for the Reds (3-0). Rodri started the match and played the full ninety minutes, while Castellón native Fornals came on after the break, substituting Carlos Soler. Both footballers will represent Spain again this Tuesday against Estonia.

Cédric Bakambu also played a leading role for his Democratic Republic of the Congo. The French-Congolese striker scored the ‘leopards’ only goal of the game as they were defeated by Tunisia (2-1). Bakambu will have the opportunity to make up for the loss this Tuesday as the two nations face each other again in the World Cup qualifying third round.

For his part, Submarine striker Enes Ünal did not get any minutes in Turkey’s loss to Ukraine (2-0). The Turkish national team will play against Croatia this Tuesday, so Ünal will have another chance to play for his country.

  • Saturday 2nd September: Ukraine vs Turkey (2-0).
  • Tuesday 5th September: Turkey vs Croatia, Eskisehir Atatürk stadium (8:45pm CEST).
