The midfielder from Talavera has broken the 200 match milestone with Villarreal CF

Today was a very special day for Manu Trigueros. The club wanted to pay tribute to the midfielder from Talavera by presenting him with the club’s gold insignia at the end of season lunch celebrated at the Entrelíneas Restaurant at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The reason for this is that this season Manu Trigueros reached, and surpassed, a very important milestone with the Submarine – 200 appearances for the Yellows first team. In total, the Submarine’s number 14 has made 215 appearances for Villarreal (136 in the First Division, 36 in the Second Division A, 25 in the UEFA Europa League, 16 in the Copa del Rey and 2 in the UEFA Champions League play-offs). It should also be stated that Trigueros played 26 matches with the Villarreal B team in the Second Division A.

He came to Villarreal from Real Murcia to play for the Yellows Academy and he moved up the ranks very quickly. In just one season, Trigueros went from the C to the B team and then, he was moved up again, to the first team in 2012, where he has become one of the side’s key players.

It must also be acknowledged that last season the club’s gold insignia was presented to three Villarreal CF players, Bruno Soriano, Mario Gaspar Pérez and Mateo Musacchio, who also reached the milestone of playing 200 matches for the Submarine.
