Manu Trigueros emphasised that Villarreal have players who can adapt to the style of play Setién wants

Manu Trigueros appeared before the media this afternoon to analyse the match against Hapoel Be’er Sheva this Thursday 6:45pm CET, corresponding to the fifth game of the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

As the vice-captain, the veteran welcomed Quique Setién, the Submarine’s new head coach: “He’ll find a group of good people and players here. We will make it very easy for him to work. His teams like to keep the ball and link up well on the inside. We have a lot of players with that profile here. We will adapt well to his approach to the game.”

After completing his first training session under Setién, Trigueros pointed out that Setién’s idea is to have possession: “He has told us that he wants us to play associative football, have the ball and be able to apply pressure straight away after losing the ball. That’s Villarreal’s DNA. We have a lot of players with that profile, who understand each other well on the pitch. I think the team suits Setién perfectly.”

In regards to the game, the midfielder from La Mancha recalled that the team has already sealed first place and stated that it will be a good opportunity to adapt to Setién’s new concepts: “We’re not playing for any objectives. The game will help us adapt to his ideas. It will be a test for us to get to know each other and to be able to transmit his ideas on the pitch.”
