The Yellows’ attacking duo is the most prolific in the league (12 goals)

The current star duo. Karl Toko Ekambi and Gerard Moreno have formed the most prolific strike-force with more goals than any other after the first 10 games of the season. The Catalan striker is the top scorer in the competition with seven goals (joint with Real Betis’ Loren Morón), while the Franco-Cameroonian attacker is enduring a real purple patch, having netted five goals in three of the Yellows’ last four games.

Between the two of them, they have scored 12 goals, an amount greater than the total goals scored by 11 teams in LaLiga. As if that were not enough, the scoring figures of the yellow pair are bettered only by Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar, whom at this point in the 2010/11 season, had scored 13 between them. Seven were scored by the Italian and six by the Carioca international.

Santi Cazorla, the third piece of the puzzle

Santi Cazorla, the midfielder from Asturias completes a dream attack. The Yellows’ “8” has scored four goals himself and has the most assists in the league, with as many assists as goals. After the Spanish international’s key contributions so far this season, he has surpassed Riquelme and become the highest goalscoring midfielder in Villarreal CF’s history with 46 goals.

It’s worth remembering that during the 2010/11 season, behind Rossi and Nilmar, Santi Cazorla was also the third highest goalscorer for the Yellows. In the first 10 games, he scored 3 goals.
