The Yellows Academy side were named Superliga de Valencia champions this season

Villarreal U10s (Benjamín A) came away with the Superliga da Valencia title in the U10 category after beating Sedaví CF 5-1 at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) last Tuesday afternoon.

The U10s have had a fantastic season, with 26 wins from 30 games, and just two draws (against Sporting Benisanó and Valencia CF) and two defeats (against Levante UD and Valencia CF). Moreover, they end the season as the league’s top scorers with 152, and the third-fewest goals conceded, with just 32.

Alejandro Duque (57 goals) finished the season as the league’s top scorer. In the last game, he helped his team to victory by scoring two of the five goals, both in the opening moments of the second half, taking it from 1-1 to 3-1. That gave a calmness to the Yellow Submarine after they started the game going 1-0 down thanks to an early Sedaví goal. “He’s a very potent player, who is very quick, and he’s hard to stop for opposition defenders. He is great with his back to goal, and facing the goal, he’s deadly,” explain his coaches.

The team is coached by Toni Olmo, Toni Almeda, Mario Bárcena, Carlos Moreno, David Segarra, Vicente Masiá and Karim Hamidi, who are also the U12s (Alevín A) coaching staff. The U10s went into the final game level on points with Levante UD (77), and two ahead of Valencia, after losing the penultimate game against Los Che. The Yellows fulfilled their end of the bargain by winning, while CD Roda beat Valencia CF 1-0 just a few kilometres from the Villarreal CF Training Ground at the Pamesa Cerámica Training Ground in Vila-real.

Part of this success is due to the Yellows Academy methodology, based on individual objectives. “Each child has a coach assigned to him, who supervises his development progress,” underlines Olmo, part of the coaching team.

Bárcena, another U10s coach, highlights the competitive nature and passion with which the boys go into each game: “They’ve showed they are very competitive. They go into each game fully ready to dig in and try and be the best. They have also shown a great ability to overcome adverse situations, coming back in a lot of games, something that is rare at this stage of their development.”

The U10s will carry on their search for more titles in two more competitions: MIC de Andorra (1st and 2nd June) and the Torneo Ciudad de Fraga a Huesca (14th to 16th June).

With the U10s’ title, there are now five Yellows Academy teams who have won their league this season, alongside the U19s (Juvenil A), the Ladies C Team, the U14s (Infantil A) and the U12s.

The club paid tribute to these teams during the half-time break between Villarreal B and UD Melilla, which was the first leg of the first round of the promotion play-offs to Segunda División.
