Javi Calleja hailed the commitment and hard work of his men during the game with Rayo Vallecano

Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the media to analyse the Yellows getting through to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, after beating Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas (0-2): “I’m very satisfied with the result. We’re continue to take steps to go far in this competition. During the first 45 minutes, we struggled a bit to get into the game, as Rayo Vallecano put in a great first half, pressing very high. In the second half, we had more control, creating chances and scoring goals.”

The Yellows head coach hailed his footballers for their commitment against the side from Madrid: “The team are in great shape. From the first person in the team until the last. The players know that we’re having a good season, but they want it to be even better. They’re showing that at all times. They’re all committed and are showing faith in what they’re doing and are excited for each game.”

Calleja also hailed his side’s great form: “Every day, we’re getting better results. We’re in a good position in LaLiga, and into the Copa del Rey quarter-finals. We want to do impressive things, although we know that we’ve got a tough second half of the season ahead of us. Next up, we’ve got Osasuna in front of our fans. We want to win at home again and continue growing as a team.”
