Coquelin has encouraged the fans to get behind the team against Cádiz

Villarreal CF midfielder, Francis Coquelin, appeared before the media in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to analyse the current situation of the team and to talk about this Sunday’s important game against Cádiz (2pm CET, Estadio de la Cerámica).

Coquelin, after overcoming a serious knee injury, is enjoying himself again on the pitch. The Frenchman returned to the starting line-up against RCD Mallorca and repeated against FC Barcelona. “You never know how you’re going to come back from an injury like this, but I’ve put all my effort into getting back to a good level”, he explained, and also thanked the club and especially the medical staff for their work during the months of recovery.

His return to the starting XI has coincided with a better version of the team. Asked about this, Coquelin replied: “I’m just another player. It’s everyone’s job. We know what Villarreal are and we have a great squad, but we have to show it. The face of the team in the last few games has been different to the start of the season, but we have to keep working. I’m here to add and help like the rest of the team.”

The No.19 had another training session this morning with the rest of his teammates to continue preparing for this Sunday’s match against Cádiz. “We face it as a fundamental match. The victory against FC Barcelona was spectacular, but the three points against Cádiz are equally or even more important because they are a team that also wants to stay in the division.”

Coquelin was also asked about the adaptation of Guedes and Mosquera, the latest Yellows reinforcements who have already been given minutes. “Their arrivals have been very positive. We are here to help them because the most important thing is that we all go in the same direction and they are here for that.”

Finally, Coquelin wanted a message to the fans to be with the team this Sunday: “The fans help us a lot. They are just another player. The support they give us is incredible. The reception they gave us in the game against RCD Mallorca was a plus and I hope it will be the same against Cádiz. We have to be united.”
