The Yellows outfit has been one of this season’s most pleasant Villarreal surprises at youth level

Each weekend fabulous results come with great feelings every weekend for the the U14s B (Infantil B). The Yellows Academy side is this season one of the revelations for Villarreal at youth level. Second in the table, with great numbers, the team coached by Ferran Bodí, Román Tirado and Codrut Aioanei is at a great level. “We’re all really happy with the season so far. Our aim is to stay in the league and we’re doing really well. We’re second in the table and we’re competing in every match,” says Bodí.

The great experiences continue in the dressing room, with the team made up of boys in the first and second year of U14s football: “They’re a group of fantastic humans. The younger players have adapted well to the team. The more experienced ones have given them a great welcome. Furthermore, on a footballing level, the first-year players, who come in from 8-a-side football, have adapted well to 11-a-side. To achieve that, we’ve focused a lot on tactical concepts and positioning.”

One of the main virtues of the team is the excellent technical level that its footballers possess: “They have a lot of potential and an excellent technical level. There quality helps us to put our playing style into practice. We don’t want to focus on physical power. We’re a team that wants to move the ball quickly and press high, so we can steal the ball near the opponent’s box.”

Some of the goals of the ‘groguet’ side for the second round of fixtures, are to continue being competitive and keep up their consistency: “We’ve scored more than twice the amount of goals we’ve conceded (48 goals for and 23 against). We’re making it look easy to get to the goal, although on occasions, we need to believe in ourselves a bit more against teams lower down the table.”

Finally Bodí recognises that the one unchangeable objective for the team is the improvement of the boys, both individually and collectively: “We don’t place any sporting objective as such. Our work is focused on players improving and growing in the sport. Like every team, we like to be at the top of the table because it shows the work we’re doing, but really we don’t focus on those details.”

The Yellows team is made up of the following players: Pau Barrachina, Jonathan Cánovas, Jaime Esteban, Félix Gálvez, Gerard López, David Martín, Alejandro Moreno, Manuel Nova, Alejandro Pérez, Héctor Rodríguez, Héctor Royo, Fernando Broch, Joan Chiva, Marc Fauli, José Vicente Gozalbo, Diego Mallol, Izan Martínez, Gerard Nguema, Mario Ocaña, Hugo Pérez, Pablo Romero and Iván Tasevski.
