Javi Calleja valued the team’s hard work after the draw with Rapid Vienna

Villarreal head coach Javi Calleja appeared against the media to analyse the draw away from home against Rapid Vienna (0-0). “We got a good point away from home which puts us top of the table and means our destiny is in our our own hands. A win against Rangers would mathematically put us in the next stage. In the first half, we were the better team and we had chances. In the second half, our opponent pushed us more, but we also offered something else.”

The Yellows manager valued the point earned in a difficult stadium like Weststadion: “We came for the victory and it wasn’t to be. It’s a difficult stadium to play in. I am leaving happy with the work of the team, who dug in for the 90 minutes to get a point. We have to end the group stage well, beating the next two teams we face.”

Finally, Calleja focused on the next match for the Submarine, against Rayo Vallecano (Sunday, 6:30pm CET): “We will go there to get three points which will take us up the table and let us go into the the next international break in a good place.”
