Carlos Bacca talks about how he feels in a pre-season where he has scored in every game

More hungry and more excited than ever. Carlos Bacca has started Villarreal’s pre-season on fire, and has scored four goals in the first four pre-season games. The Colombian shows his excitement ahead of the new season: “I’m happy to put this shirt on for a third year. I’m enjoying every day. They’ve been very distinct seasons. That’s football and last year we knew how to react and respond to make sure Villarreal were in the top flight, which is where this big club deserves to be. The physical and mental wear and tear was very big. Now we’re starting afresh and excited and keen for everything to work out well.”

Bacca underlined that the Yellows will go for everything from the start of LaLiga: “From the first match, you’re going to see a very fluid Villarreal eager to impress.”

The Colombian hopes that the Yellows forwards can help the team in terms of goals: “The forwards have the responsibility to score goals, although it is obviously a team game. We hope that this year we can get the best out of ourselves. Hopefully we continue form from pre-season. We’re confidence. Scoring goals helps you feel good when the season starts. It makes you happier to carry on working on what you know how to do,” he said.

This is the first full pre-season that Bacca is undergoing with the side. With hard work, he hopes to make the Yellows fans happy and once more represent his country: “I had six or seven years without being able to rest during my holidays and that mean I was unable to carry out a full pre-season. I’m feeling a lot better. I hope to be able to continue like that to help Villarreal with my best level. I know that I’ve still got a lot to give. With hard work and sacrifice I am going to try and get back to representing Colombia, which is what I want most. Representing my country is the greatest thing, but to do that, I need to do things well with Villarreal,” he added.

Regarding his personal situation, Bacca is in a sweet spot: “I have a two-month-old daughter and it’s a great happiness. It’s a blessing. We had wanted to grow our family for a long time.”

Bacca is sharing a bedroom with Mariano Barbosa in Austria: “Mariano is very well behaved. We’ve known each other for a long time from when we played together at Sevilla. We’ve continued having this friendship and we share a lot of things. In the room we often watch films that Mariano chooses. I often adapt to watch he suggests. We speak about a lot of things other than football,” he concluded.
