Star of the show Toko Ekambi hailed Villarreal’s performance against Rapid Vienna

Not only goals, but assists too. Against Rapid Vienna, the French-Cameroonian striker Karl Toko Ekambi gave a masterclass on how to generate danger and terrorise the opposition defence. The Yellows No.17, who scored twice and provided two assists, was happy with the comfortable Villarreal victory against Rapid Vienna: “We are very happy to have got our first win at home. We went on to the pitch focused on having a good game and we achieved that. We knew the importance of the tie, we went onto the pitch with the aim of having the ball and scoring as many goals as possible to make sure we got the three points.”

The prolific goalscorer also showed yesterday that he can set up his team-mates too: “We’re a team. I’m happy to be able to help my team through assists. Goals aren’t the only important thing. Strikers also like to help team-mates too.”

Finally, Toko Ekambi underlined that the tie against the Austrians showed the path to follow in coming games. “We’re joint-top of the group. That’s the path to follow. Now, we’re focused on getting a win against Alavés on Sunday.”
