Emery has called on the fans to get behind Villarreal against Getafe CF (Sunday, 2pm CET)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming game against Getafe CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Sunday, 2pm CET).

Three very important points

“We’re focused on Sunday’s game. Against Getafe, there are three very important points up for grabs. We want the Estadio de la Cerámica to be a fortress. We need the fans behind us. They need to give us their support.”

The objective is to improve

“We want to be consistent on the pitch, and have character. That comes from day-to-day work and the trust we gain. It’s a very tough match. We want to get into the fight for the European spots. LaLiga is a long league. Some points have slipped away from us and we’ve been penalised by that, but there’s still a long time left. We’re not thinking about the consequences of winning or losing. The objective is to improve, step by step. We’ve been working very well these last few days.”

Finding solutions to how the opposition lines up

“The team is very committed. That gives me confidence ahead of the games in LaLiga. The opposition we face always respect us and prepare their games against us very well. They make us feel uncomfortable, but we need to find solutions.”

Getafe CF, a solid team with quality

“They’re a team that’s set up well tactically, with very solid defensive structures, and great players in attack. We’re expecting to face a good Getafe side, a Getafe side that wants to win in defence and in attack. They have players who play football really well. They’re a tremendous team. Every game is different.”

Being strong at the Estadio de la Cerámica

“Playing at home is important. We feel stronger with our fans cheering us on. We’re going into the game after a draw against Cádiz and a defeat against CA Osasuna, but we could see a lot of positive things against Real Betis. On Sunday, we want to go back to seeing positive things in our performance, but we also want to try and get a positive result.”
