Javi Calleja is backing his side to give their all against a ‘brace’ and ‘intense’ Almería side
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja has appeared in front of the media to analyse the build-up to the cup tie with UD Almería. “Now we’re starting a completely different competition. It excites us and we want to start it well and get as far as possible in it,” he said.
The Yellows coach underlined that he expects to face a ‘brave’ and ‘intense’ opponent. “It will be a difficult match. They’re a brave team that will try and cause us problems in front of their home support. They’re an intense outfit and they link up well. They don’t have much to win, but could gain a lot,” he emphasised.
What’s more, Calleja said he felt ‘extremely motivated’ ahead of a challenge of turning the tide and bettering the negative run of results: “I’m hurt and I’m desperate to get out of this situation. I am very motivated and I’m only thinking in turning things around. We’re a team with a lot of ability. We can get out of this situation fighting game by game and by showing better mental strength.”
