The Villarreal head coach was frustrated the absences and acknowledged that the team has work to do to adapt to the new approach to the game

Villarreal head coach Quique Setién has analysed the Yellows’ 1-0 defeat at San Mamés. The Cantabrian manager regretted the setback and acknowledged that Athletic were superior overall: “The game didn’t go the way we expected it to. It’s difficult to come here and control the game. They are an intense and aggressive-pressing team. We had half an hour in which we dominated and we got into the opposition’s box with assiduity. We held out until half-time and in the second half they outplayed us.”

Setién also pointed out that the Yellows have some work to do to adapt to the new approach: “I want my team to play well. This has only just begun. We have a lot of work ahead of us to improve. We’ve arrived at the game very conditioned by circumstances. We have to recover the players who are injured and have problems.”
