Respect and continuity needed to face Zamora

Unai Emery underlined the importance of a good performance in an exciting competition (Tuesday, 7pm CET)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in a remote press conference this morning to analyse the upcoming cup tie with Zamora CF (Tuesday, 7pm CET): “We respect this competition and we want to perform at our best, while always respecting our opponent, Zamora. For them it’s the chance of getting great recognition. They are going into the game with the aim of knocking us out.”

The Yellows head coach also underlined the need to perform well in a competition where there is no margin for error: “We want to show continuity to what we did in LaLiga. We competed very well and the team was focused for 90 minutes. We cannot think about the difference in leagues because that can even out. We will try and counter the playing style that they want to set up with.”

Finally, the Basque manager spoke about Étienne Capoue’s possible Villarreal debut against Zamora: “We hope he can play, there are optimistic views and I’m expecting him to be able to. It would be a surprise if he couldn’t play, so we hope he can. If he doesn’t play though, we have other options.”
