Unai Emery underlined the strengths of Levante UD, next up at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Saturday, 2pm CET)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery underlined that his team will try and start 2021 on the right foot by beating Levante UD at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Saturday, 2pm CET). For the Basque manager, it won’t be easy, as he underlined the strengths of the upcoming opposition: “They’re full of confidence at the moment, winning games. They’re patient with the ball and they grow from there because they’re a team who managed the ball well and don’t change their identity. I’m expecting a Levante side who will want to have the ball, and if they can, they will run into space. They also have a good strategy, making them dangerous. They’re a well-structured team with experience in this league, which gives them security on the pitch. We need to do our jobs very well and we are aware that we’re coming up against a very tough opponent.”

Regarding the latest Yellows signing, Emery hailed the club’s capacity to bring in someone needed after Vicente Iborra’s injury: “Capoue is a positional player, with a big stature who always knows what he has to do. He can also help us a lot with his experience. He’s a very similar player to Iborra and I hope he settles in as soon as possible.”

To conclude, the head coach summed up the calendar year, which ends today. “Generally, 2020 has been a good year for Villarreal. The team finished the league in fifth last season, and this one we’re still towards the top of LaLiga and doing well in Europe.”
