Manu Trigueros will receive, before the match against Sevilla, a very special tribute after becoming the player with the most official matches (426)

A well-deserved tribute. Manu Trigueros will receive, before Sunday’s match against Sevilla (4.15pm CEST), very special recognition on the pitch of the Ciutat de València after becoming the player with the most official games for Villarreal (426).

He will be presented with a commemorative shirt by Bruno Soriano, the player who previously held the record for most games played for the Yellows (425).

Trigueros surpassed that figure after playing in the match against Lech Poznan, Matchday 1 of the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Formed in the Yellows Academy, Manu Trigueros has reached this impressive number of appearances aged just, in his 11th season in the first team, in which he has played since he made his debut against Real Madrid Castilla (2-1) in Segunda on 17th August 2012.

As a Villarreal player, Manu Trigueros has lifted the first UEFA Europa League in the club’s history, reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and also played in the UEFA Super Cup. Throughout his career, he has also become one of the Submarine’s captains and become a key player for the club over the last decade.

In 426 games, Trigueros has scored a total of 34 goals. His official appearances with the Submarine are split into 293 in LaLiga, 53 in the UEFA Europa League, 36 in Segunda, 31 in the Copa del Rey, 11 in the UEFA Champions League, one in the UEFA Super Cup and one in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
