The legendary Raúl Albiol continues to play in yellow

Raúl Albiol Tortajada (Vilamarxant, 04/09/1985) is an experienced defender with an impressive track record in European football. Since his arrival at Villarreal CF, he has played a total of 155 official matches for the club, being one of the captains of the historic UEFA Europa League title win in 2021 and guiding the Submarine to the semi-finals of the Champions League (2022).

Throughout his career he has played more than 700 games for other top clubs such as Real Madrid, SCC Napoli, Valencia CF and Getafe CF. He has been an international with the Spanish national team in the best period of its history, in which he won two European Championships (2008 and 2012) and a World Cup (2010).

In his four seasons as a member of the Villarreal CF squad, Raúl Albiol has become one of the biggest legends in the history of Villarreal CF, leading the backline and endearing himself to the Estadio de la Cerámica. Not surprisingly, the fans chose him as a member of the club’s historic XI alongside other emblematic players of the stature of Marcos Senna, Santi Cazorla, Bruno Soriano and Juan Román Riquelme.
