The Castellón outfit earned their second continental title on the Gaetà Huguet tracks

The results of clubs and athletes sponsored by Villarreal CF are the following:

Playas, European champions for the second time

Playas de Castellón got their second title as European champion last weekend on the Gaetà Huguet tracks. The club from Castellón took home the title in an agonising way. They were ahead all the way, but their 11-point advantage was cut back bit-by-bit, only three points ahead Turkish outfit Fenerbahce on the last race.

When they arrived at that moment, they only had to not lose the 4×400 relay race by more than two laces. Before the last changeover, the Turkish club were winning and Playas were fourth. However, with 200 metres left, Moses Boitumelo managed to finish third, which meant Playas de Castellón were top with 122 points, while Fenerbahce had 121. Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the Portuguese outfit, came third with 112 points.

Playas had hoped to organise the best European Championship in the history of club events, and it was well organised and the tracks were full of spectators, who cheered on the club until the very end.

Pablo Herrera loses in the quarter-finals in China

Pablo Herrera and Adrián Gavira have said goodbye to the World Tour 4* in Jinjiang after losing in the quarter-finals. They won their first match of the day, equivalent to the quarter-finals, against Canadian pair Saxton and O’Gorman, 2-0 (21-18 and 21-13).

Brazilian pair Andre and George were next up in the quarter-finals. The Spanish pair put in a big shift but it was not to be. It was a high-quality tie, with not much between them, but ended 0-2 to the Brazilians, 26-28 and 22-24.

CP Vila-real Fighters, Spanish Women U20s champions on penalties

CP Vila-real Fighters managed to win their first national U20s championship in Valladolid. The Fighters dominated the first half and went into the dressing room at half-time 2-0 up. In a spectacular second half, Tres Cantos started brightly and drew level, before the Vila-real side scored straight after. With three minutes left, the side from Madrid once again drew level, but CP Vila-real Fighters were able to come away with the win on penalties.
