The Senegalese footballer arrives as a free agent and signs with Villarreal until 2028

Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Pape Gueye to sign the French-Senegalese player for the next four seasons, until 30th June 2028.

The new midfielder is scheduled to undergo medical and strength tests on 8th July, prior to the start of the season. On Thursday 11th July, he will complete his first training session with his new teammates under the orders of Marcelino García Toral.

Pape Gueye, reinforcement for the Yellows in midfield

Pape Alassane Gueye (Montreuil, France, 24th January 1999) is a French-born Senegalese international who plays as a defensive midfielder. His technique, great recovery capacity, aggressiveness in duels and physical deployment make the Senegal international a very complete player.

He took his first steps in professional football with Le Havre AC, where he played from the 2016/17 to the 2019/20 season. He then signed for Olympique de Marseille, the last club he played for before joining Villarreal on a free transfer. He played for them from the 2020/21 season until the 2023/24 season, at the start of which he coincided with Marcelino when the coach from Gijón was in charge of the French side.

In addition, Gueye already has experience in Spanish football. During the 2022/23 season, the versatile midfielder played the second half of the campaign at Sevilla FC. In addition to impressing, he made a total of 16 appearances and scored one goal.

Gueye, a permanent fixture in the Senegal national team, has an Africa Cup of Nations trophy to his name, which he won with the Lions of Teranga in the 2021 edition in Cameroon.
