Villarreal face an important league match against the “hard-working” Galician team (Wednesday, 9:30pm CET)

Villarreal want to end 2023 with a win at La Cerámica, where good results have eluded them at the start of the season. Facing them will be RC Celta, a team that has not had the start to the league that they would have liked before the ball started rolling last August.

The Galician side, as Marcelino pointed out in the press conference, is a “hard-working team that always “makes things difficult” for their opponents. However, their good work has not been reflected in points on the league table.

After 17 games played, the team from Vigo are in 18th position, with 13 points. The numbers of two wins, seven draws and eight defeats are far from the image they offer on the pitch, where they show to be a cheerful and talented team with players like Strand Larsen, Bamba or Iago Aspas, who will not appear at La Cerámica as he is suspended for seeing a red card during the win against Granada CF (1-0).

Villarreal have three points more than their opponents (16), who need a win at home to finish the year and to get away from the bottom of the table after their last two league defeats against Real Madrid (4-1) and Real Sociedad (0-3).

The Submarine face this demanding challenge with a long list of absentees due to injury and Capoue suspended in midfield.
