Villarreal beat West Brom 3-0 in preseason opener with goals from Gerard, Trigueros and Bacca

It was a first half that started off with a back-and-forth fight for possession of the ball and both teams had spells where they controlled the game, but the Yellows ended up dominating more. The Yellow Submarine’s first goal came after just ten minutes of play, Gerard Moreno headed home brilliantly from a Trigueros corner kick to put Calleja’s side in front. Just before the break, Trigueros made it 2-0 to Villarreal after converting the penalty kick awarded for a foul on Raba in the box.

The second half saw a new starting eleven take the pitch to give everyone in the Yellows squad a run out. It was a very even second half, both sides battling to keep the ball and create chances. In the 82nd minute, Villarreal had the final say though, Bacca scoring the Yellows’ third of the game with an acrobatic finish.

A perfect start. Villarreal kicked off their preseason fixtures with a 3-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at the Ciudad Deportiva Camilo Cano de La Nucia (Alicante, Spain). The Yellows put in a fantastic performance in their first preseason test and Gerard Moreno, Manu Trigueros and Carlos Bacca all got themselves on the score sheet.
