Villarreal fall 1-0 to FC Porto, their first trip up in preseason

Villarreal fell by the smallest of margins against FC Porto in their visit to the Estadio Do Dragao, with a goal by André Silva (12th minute), which was their first defeat in preseason. It was an even match that was decided by the Portuguese side’s goal from an unorganised Yellows defence.

The new signings that featured in the starting line-up and made their debuts for Villarreal were Pato and Roberto Soriano, positioned up front and on the left wing respectively. Villarreal moved the ball around well in the first half but were not clinical enough in the final metres. On the other hand, Porto converted in the 12th minute with a goal by André Silva and assist by Otávio.

Manu Trigueros could have equalised with a clear chance towards the end, but his shot sailed wide.
