The Yellows Academy graduate underlined his excitement and commitment now he is back at the Yellow Submarine

Moi Gómez was unveiled as a new Villarreal CF footballer this lunchtime at the Ciudad Deportiva press room. Accompanied by club CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, the midfielder was ‘grateful’ for the trust placed in him by the Yellows to make his return possible. “I want to thank the club for backing me. This team is my home. I came here aged 11 and I’ve always been treated like family. My family and I are very happy to be back here.”

The Yellows Academy graduate recognised that he always wanted to come back to Vila-real: “Villarreal is the club of my life. It’s the club that’s given everything to me. My dream was always to return. I’ve worked very hard to be here today. I’m very happy. When I went, I was lacking maturity and experience. I’ve gained that by going step by step in the footballing world. Now I’m much more mature and have more experience to give to the team.”

With regarding to his position on the pitch, Gómez says he is willing to play wherever new manager Javi Calleja wants: “Throughout my career, I’ve played in many positions. I can play anywhere in the middle of the pitch. Where the manager chooses to put me, I will try and give 100%.”

He arrives back at the Estadio de la Cerámica after an excellent season with SD Huesca: “I was very happy there. I felt important in the team and you could see a good version of me. Despite it being a difficult season, on an individual level, I showed the best of me.”

Roig Negueroles: “Moi Gómez will contribute a lot”

Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles underlined during the unveiling that his excellent trajectory has brought him back home, and that the midfielder has a lot of potential: “He’s played a lot and very well for the last year and a half. We know him well and we know that he’s had a few years to mature. The Yellows CEO explains that Moi will be important because of his versatility: “He is going to help us have a better season than last year, we want to give him a good welcome.”
