Villarreal CF has come to an agreement with Real Sporting for the transfer of the former Yellows Academy player

Villarreal CF has reached a transfer agreement with Real Sporting de Gijón for midfielder Moi Gómez, who rejoins Villarreal CF and will represent the club for the next four seasons. The new Yellows player successfully underwent his medical this morning and will train under Javi Calleja this afternoon. The midfielder will be officially presented as a new Yellows player before the media tomorrow at 12pm in the press room at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva).

Moi Gómez Bordonado (Rojales, 23rd June 1994) is a very skilful midfielder who has great ability with both feet. A player that came through the ranks at the Yellows Academy, Moi joined Villarreal back in 2006 when he was just 11 years old to play for Villarreal U14. A Spain U16, U19 and U21 international and winner of the ‘División de Honor’ with Villarreal U19, Moi was called to make the big step up to the First Division and at just 17 years of age, on 28th Novemeber 2011, made his debut in a defeat against Málaga CF at La Rosaleda (2-1).

In the following season, in the Second Division (2012/13), the attacking midfielder established himself in the first team and helped the Yellows to get promoted straight back the top flight. He would play two more seasons in a yellow shirt, making 94 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions.

After going on to play for Getafe CF and Real Sporting de Gijón, Moi Gómez has represented SD Huesca for the last two seasons, helping them to achieve a historic promotion and becoming a key player for Huesca in the First Division. Last season he scored two goals and provided nine assists, making him the ninth player with the most assists in the league.
