The coach predicts a very intense and exciting derby against CD Castellón (Saturday, 5pm CEST) in Castalia
Villarreal B face CD Castellón this Saturday (5pm CEST) at the Estadio Municipal de Castalia in what promises to be, as always, a “very interesting, exciting and intense match”, as the yellow B team’s coach, Miguel Álvarez, pointed out before the game. These are the highlights of the statements made by the Jaén-based coach ahead of the match in Castellón, which is important in order to achieve the club’s objectives:
A very intense derby
“I’m expecting a match like every time we’ve been to Castellón, where we’ve seen very interesting and beautiful matches, with a lot of intensity. It’s a pleasure to go and play there because we’re playing against a very strong team. It’s a sensational atmosphere for the boys and for anyone who loves football. Everyone fights for their own interests, obviously, but on the pitch you see very exciting matches with great tempo and they compete very hard to win the game.”
The opponent
“They are a team that we have seen a lot of because they are one of the contenders to be at the top in terms of squad, coaching staff and social status. We’ve analysed a lot of matches and, in terms of play and situations, they deserved more points, but that’s the nature of this league. Now they have a lot at stake. They have their last chance, although it won’t be easy for them because there are many teams involved. They have players who have played at higher levels.”
Progressive objectives
“The objective is to fight for promotion. In the five years I’ve been here, nobody has talked to me about objectives, but my team-mates and I know what they are. One is to train the players because that is the priority, but they also have to understand that in professional football we have the obligation to win. In the summer, the first objective was salvation because this league is very difficult. Once that was achieved, it was promotion, and now we want to lift the trophy. But you can’t go for the third objective if you haven’t achieved the first because you have to work day by day and respect your opponents. I don’t know if we’ll achieve it because we’re competing against two animals like Andorra and Albacete. If we can’t finish first, we’ll go for promotion.”
