The Villarreal B head coach is excited ahead of hosting UE Cornellà (Sunday, 5pm CEST)

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media this lunchtime to analyse the next game for the Mini Submarine, against UE Cornellà at the Mini Estadi (5pm CEST, Footters). The Yellows go into the tie after winning (1-3) their first opening match of the Primera RFEF Footers season.

Playing at home

“We’re going into the game excited to have our fans with us, being back with our people makes it special. Playing in front of fans makes us stronger.”

The opposition

“Cornellà are going to be a very competitive team like they always are, even though their manager has left, as well as a large part of the core squad. But they have signed well, they have a good squad, and to be honest, they’re a bit of an unknown entity. We can see that at home, they adjust to their stadium and they play more directly, but away from home, they could switch things up and play more of a passing game, which makes them a very versatile team. Adding to that, both teams haven’t played many games, so it makes things tougher at this stage of the season. They’re a side who are good from set pieces and they’re also danger on the counter.”

Objectives

“We have talented players, we’re a young side, and the idea is to grow with the players. We are going to try and follow the path we’ve taken in recent years. We know it is a division with teams with big budgets, we know that it won’t be easy. We want to enjoy the league and have an exciting season.”

First match won

“We’re going into the game on the back of a win, and that’s always the best thing to do. We’re a team where we all know each other, which means that there’s always a great atmosphere. I want to build on the win.”
