The Villarreal centre back played the full 90 minutes against Bolivia in La Paz

Villarreal CF’s Argentinean centre back, Mateo Musacchio, started the match for the sky blue-and-whites against Bolivia in La Paz, which finished in a 2-0 win for the home side. Musacchio played 90 minutes, but could not avoid defeat for his Argentina side. The goals were scored by Arca and Martins.

The other two Submarine footballers that had international fixtures did not step on the pitch for their countries. Jonathan dos Santos watched on from the bench as Mexico beat Trinidad and Tobago 0-1 with a goal by Diego Reyes, while Nicola Sansone also sat back and watched Italy’s 1-2 victory over Holland with goals by Eder and Bonucci (Romagnoli scored for Holland).
