The young fan enjoyed Villarreal’s historic victory over FC Bayern in the Champions League quarter-finals at the stadium
Passion for Villarreal is alive and well in Stuttgart. Leon König is a 19-year-old fan who started following the Submarine in 2018. Since then, and from afar, he enjoys every match of his team on TV, even if this sometimes means cancelling social plans with his friends or family.
His friends often ask him why he loves the Yellow Submarine. Leon is very clear: “This club has been my life since 2018. I can’t be happy without this team. I love the players and the city in general. I find it impressive that this club is playing in the top flight and that there is still so much connection with the fans.”
Last year he had the opportunity to see Villarreal CF live and direct. The occasion was none other than the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, which pitted the Yellows against FC Bayern at the Allianz Arena in Munich. It was a historic night for the club and its fans, but also for Leon, who was one of the thousands of fans who watched the game in the Bavarian city: “I was alone with the yellow shirt and surrounded by Bayern fans. It’s a game I will never forget. On that day, Villarreal showed everyone how strong they are.” That same year, he also accompanied the Submarine in a pre-season match, just two months later, against Borussia Dortmund.
This season, Leon was even able to fulfil his dream of watching a game live from the Estadio de la Cerámica, an experience he will never forget: “Whenever I’ve seen this team live, I’ve always had a familiar feeling. I’m happy when this team plays and when I see the players, who I’ve seen on TV or FIFA for years, my heart goes out to them.”
He likes Santi Cazorla very much, but his favourite duo is Gerard Moreno and Dani Parejo and he dreams of meeting them one day:”‘Living in Germany doesn’t stop me from supporting this team and its fans. Endavant Villarreal!,” says König, who is very happy to be part of the club and wishes the best to the team, the fans and the town of Vila-real.
