Pau Francisco Torres has established himself in Javi Calleja’s starting XI, showing his class

Pau has worn yellow all his life. He spent more than a decade being formed in the Yellows Academy, and his good spell underlines the club’s backing of its youth system.

Villarreal are continually improving and got a clean sheet against Leganés. “It was time for that after various games where we hadn’t got the result we deserved. This time, we were able to get the first win and we hope that there will be many more. Getting a clean sheet is vital for the team to continue growing. We need to always aim for that. We have been conceding this season unfortunately. We hope that the strikers continue the form they’re in to help us keep getting results,” he added.

For Pau, the Leganés game marks the route to follow: “The result was a fair reflection of the game. We were able to read the match well and manage it perfectly. We defended crosses really well. We had to be practical and we put in a good performance.”

To conclude, Pau underlined that the team is now focused on Saturday’s match against Real Valladolid at the Estadio de la Cerámica (1pm CEST): “The team has shown that it can kill off the games. That gives us more confidence ahead of the game against Valladolid.”
