Javi Calleja aims to instil the Yellow style to counter Eibar’s direct game
The Villarreal CF manager, Javi Calleja, faced the media to analyse the build up to this Thursday’s game against SD Eibar (Ipurua, 7pm). The Yellows’ manager has analysed his opponent’s game: “They are a team who make you work hard. They always push themselves to the limit. I expect them to press us high up the pitch to make it difficult for us to play the ball freely, forcing us to play a direct game. They are a very strong side in the air and dangerous at the second ball. They are very direct. They take the ball out wide and make lots of crosses. They will aim to make us feel uncomfortable. ”
In order to take the three points at Eibar, Calleja is keen for his side to be intense and fully focused: “We need to play with high intensity and give 100% throughout the game. We want to take the initiative, and despite the high pressure that they exert, we need to be able to show our game and cause them problems.”
Lastly, the Villarreal CF manager emphasised the importance of being consistent which will help continue the current run of successful results: “We have to go game by game. Against Eibar, we will try to achieve our third consecutive win. It’s great to be high in the table at the moment, but what is really important is to be there at the end of the season. Therefore, our minds are only focused on winning in Ipurua.”
