Marcelino predicts a tough match against the Catalan outfit (Saturday, 6:30pm CET)

Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared before the media in the press room at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about the match that his team will play tomorrow against FC Barcelona at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium at 6:30pm CET.

Marcelino, in his opening comments, spoke about the team’s situation and the return of Aissa Mandi after Algeria’s AFCON elimination: “The team has been working well all week. Mandi will be in the squad because he is feeling good physically and mentally.”

“We think week by week and watching training session after training session we see what the adaptation, the performance and the physical and non-physical preparation is,” said Marcelino after being asked about Guedes and Mosquera, Villarreal’s latest reinforcements in the winter transfer window.

The Submarine face a complicated but exciting game against FC Barcelona tomorrow at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, starting at 6:30pm CET. Regarding the Catalan side, Marcelino admits: “They’re a team that has only lost two games. It’s true that they are conceding more than last year and that is taking points away from them and, although they are not at their very best, I’m expecting a good Barça side.”

Finally, Marcelino stressed the importance of Villarreal finding the consistency that will allow them to maintain good momentum: “The most important thing in football is consistency. We’re more competitive now, but at specific moments we’re being punished too much by our opponents’ finishing, which we often lack. We’re not always showing that level on a regular basis and our job is to identify why and work on it.”
