The Yellows midfielder recognises that getting a win against Valencia CF would be a massive morale boost to achieve the aims

Villarreal midfielder Vicente Iborra appeared in front of the media in a virtual press conference to analyse the current situation the Yellows are in, ahead of this Sunday’s game with Valencia CF (5pm CEST): “The derby is always special. We’re playing against a good opponent, with excellent players. We’re going into the game full of excitement and respect. We are hoping to get a good result, as that is crucial to continue to look above us in the table.”

The Yellows No.10 hailed Valencia’s quality in attack: “I think they’re a very strong side. They’re a team that are structured well at the back and they have very quick players who are full of quality up front. Because of that, we will need to be focused, aware and vigilant in defence. What we want to do is have the ball as much as possible, take control of the ball and dominate the game. From there, hopefully we can have a killer instinct up front and make the most of the chances that come our way.”

For Iborra, solidity in defence has been one of the keys to the positive run Villarreal are on: “We’re in a good moment, the team is capable of having possession and we’re working well in defence. We’re reading games well and adapting to what each moment needs. We have resources to be able to deal with every situation and we’re creating chances, so if we’re efficient up front, we’ll have a chance of winning.”

Finally, the Valencian footballer backs the team to continue working as they have been: “We want to keep this good run going. We know that we need to continue like this until the end of the season and be competitive and ambitious in every game. We are focused on Sunday’s game. It’s a derby and the team that wins will have a boost to go into the rest of the campaign strongly.”
