The B team lose the chance to cut the gap with Mirandés after losing in Anduva
Villarreal B lost at Anduva against CD Mirandés (3-0) and will have to continue fighting to stay away from the relegation zone.
Miguel Álvarez’s side were dominant in the opening stages and Jorge Pascual, with a header, could have scored the first goal of the afternoon. However, Mirandés took the lead with their first shot on target. Carlos Martín headed in a cross from the right and there was nothing debutant Rubén Gómez could do to stop his excellent finish. The man from Alzira, in fact, had a bar of good saves to keep his side in the game.
Before the hour mark, Miguel Álvarez brought on Ontiveros and Collado to try and get the visitors on the scoreboard. The home side shut up shop to defend the result and there were few attempts to get into the box. In a Mirandés attacking transition in which Villarreal B were momentarily down to 10 men due to Lanchi’s injury, Lachuer scored the second and opened the gap. Gabri Martínez then sealed the game with the match already decided.
Villarreal B’s next game will take place next Sunday at 2pm CET at the Estadio de la Cerámica against CD Tenerife.
