The Catalan footballer underlined his gratitude to the Yellows and their fans in the renovation ceremony

Gerard Moreno, who today signed a new contract until 2027 in an exciting event after the screening of the ‘Our final’ documentary, underlined his satisfaction at staying with the Yellows. “I’ve always liked to represent this badge, and for me, this club is really big,” underlined the Catalan forward.

The Spain international wanted to thank the club for all the support given to him since he started at Miralcamp: “Thanks a lot to the president, to Llaneza, and to Fernando Roig Negueroles, who, since I arrived aged 18 have always shown trust in me and that they care about me. It’s reciprocated. I’ve also always noted the support and love for me that the fans have.”

Gerard still hopes to have a lot of success with Villarreal, saying so in the ceremony: “I hope that I can experience more joy like last season. In two days, we have another final, and hopefully we can bring the Super Cup back here too.” According to the No.7, the team is “very excited to try and repeat such a special moment. It’s still recent in our minds and watching this documentary still gives me goosebumps.”

Next up, a big team in Chelsea FC. “They’re a massive opponent to face, but so were Manchester United. We trust ourselves and we’re excited,” underlined the striker, who also wanted to use the occasion to thank the fans: “Travelling is complicated, and for them to be there in these moments strengthens us. In Gdansk, from the moment we went out we could only hear the Yellows and I’m sure we’ll only hear you in Belfast too, because you’re great.”

Villarreal president Fernando Roig also had some words about the contract extension. “They’re six more seasons that we’re going to enjoy a magnificent player. There’s no doubt about it. We’re going to enjoying having this great striker and this great person.”
