Villarreal footballer Gerard Moreno has been nominated for the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League Player of the Season, where the Submarine lifted the continental trophy after beating Manchester United 11-10 in the penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.
The Catalan striker is one of three candidates for the individual trophy. The other two footballers up for the award are Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes, both from the Red Devils.
In the last edition of the UEFA Europa League, Gerard had impressive individual numbers. The Yellows No.7 was top goalscorer in the tournament, with seven goals and 12 matches. He also provided five assists.

UEFA has published the list of the top ten best players of the past edition of the UEFA Europa League. As well as Gerard, who could be named best player, there are various other Yellows in the list. Pau Torres, Raúl Albiol and Dani Parejo are in fifth, sixth and seventh position respectively. Étienne Capoue (ninth) is also part of this select group.
