The Manager was regretful after cup elimination, but praised his players’ efforts
Villarreal CF Manager Fran Escribá was disappointed to get knocked out of the Copa del Rey, but was satisifed with his team’s performance: “We did everything possible and tried our hardest. We dominated the second half, but we didn’t create many chances. There’s nothing to blame the players for though”.
With two competitions ahead, the Yellow Submarine Manager is already thinking about the league and UEFA Europa League competitions: “We tried, but looking at both games it’s logical that Real Sociedad went through. Now we’re going to focus on staying up there in LaLiga and the Europa League”.
Lastly, when talking about next Saturday’s match against Deportivo la Coruña (8:45pm CET) at the Riazor stadium, Escribá stated that the team are okay physically: “The team is in good shape, despite having put in a big effort three days ago. Today they showed they can play”.
