The Submarine Manager warned of the difficulty of their Europa League rivals Osmanlispor

No room for error. In today’s press conference prior to the Europa League tie against Osmanlispor in Ankara (Thursday, 7pm CET, live on BeIN Max 1) Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, explained that the key will be not to make any serious mistakes, as the Turkish side are a much more dangerous rival than they seem: “We cannot be overconfident. It is a much more difficult game than people think, due to the Turkish league being a lower standard. Osmanlispor have a much better team than it seems and they’ll make it really hard for us. Neither of us have lost at our home grounds so it will be an even match. For us, for Villarreal, it’s key not to make any serious mistakes”.

With respect to their opponents, the Manager said they’re a physical side, with a strong aerial game, above all from the midfield going forward. “They’re a team that run a lot, they’re a strong, physical side and very hardworking. They have strong players from the middle going forward, with a striker who is very good in the air. I expect many different stories within the same match”.

Andrés: “We expect a tough match”

For his part, goalkeeper Andrés Fenandez stressed that the team must be aware of the difficulty of the clash: “We expect a tough match. We know they’re strong at home, and powerful up top, but we’re going with the aim of putting in a great performance”.

When talking about the atmosphere, the Yellows goalkeeper knows the local fans will add to the pressure for the Submarine, but said there’s no doubt the team will go all out. “We’ve asked Bakambu and he told us they’re a tough team and that the atmosphere in Turkey is always something you have to compete with, but it is a key match. We’re not thinking about drawing. The aim is to keep going as we are and play well and continue this line of work, our solid play and doing things well”.
