Five academy youngsters shine with Spain U16s

The Yellows Academy players played in the national team’s victories

Five Villarreal youngsters played for Spain U16s. David Gordo’s side have Jordi Ortega, Alejandro Jiménez and Jorge Pascual taking part in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament in Belgrade (Serbia). La Roja also is represented in the 47 Mondial Football de Montaigu (France), where Marcos Sánchez and Rodrigo Alonso are involved.

The first three took part in the 4-0 win over Ecuador in the first match of the tournament, with all of them getting game time. Ortega started, while Jiménez and Pascual came off the bench in the 57^th minute. A few hours later, Sánchez and Alonso beat France (0-1), with the former starting and the latter coming on as a substitute in the 81^st minute.

The tournaments the Yellows Academy youngsters are taking part with Spain U16s are as follows:

47 Mondial Football Montaigu (Rodrigo Alonso and Marcos Sánchez):

• Spain vs France: (1-0).
• Spain vs Brazil: Thursday, 18^th April at 7pm CEST (Montaigu).
• Spain vs Mexico: Saturday, 20^th April at 6pm CEST (Montaigu).
• Match to determine final place in tournament: Monday, 22^nd April, TBC (Montaigu).

UEFA U16 Development Tournament (Jordi Ortega, Alejandro Jiménez and Jorge Pascual):

• Spain vs Ecuador: (4-0).
• Serbia vs Spain: Thursday, 18^th April at 2:15pm CEST  (Belgrade).
• Slovakia vs Spain: Saturday, 20^th April at 12:15pm CEST (Belgrade).
