Mario Gaspar backs the side to make one last push and confirm survival as soon as possible
Villarreal defender Mario Gaspar appeared in front of the press this lunchtime to analyse the current situation regarding the Yellow Submarine. The right-back backed his side to make one last push with a month of the season left to achieve the aim of staying in the top flight: “The win over CD Leganés has given us a bit of breathing space. We have an important week as we try and confirm staying up. We want to do it as soon as possible. Until we can mathematically confirm it, we will continue fighting.”
The Yellows No.2 recognised that the squad is focused on getting a win against Real Sociedad: “We’re going into the game with the mindset of getting a win. We need o show that we’ve got a lot to play for. We know that they’re not in their best moment and that they’re going into the final stretch without many worries, but they’re a team with a lot of quality and it won’t be easy.”
Finally, Mario highlighted the competitive nature that Villarreal have shown in recent games: “It was something that we could have improved. In these two matches we’ve competed better. We knew how to manage an advantage, suffer and see out the ties.”
