The Yellows Manager recognises that “it wasn’t a good game”, but says the point is “good”

Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, recognised that his team did not have a great match against Steaua Bucuresti, but that the point was well earned after a tough game on a bad pitch: “We’re not going away satisfied because it wasn’t a good game, but we have to take the positives, as we didn’t lose. We must correct the things we did wrong. We must know that there will be bad matches and when we trip up we must have a clear mind. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy because Steaua have very good players and we saw that tonight”.

For Escribá, the team dynamic makes him optimistic: “We wanted to win, but we’ve picked up points. We’re leaders of the group and I think by winning the two home matches we will be a lot closer to going through”.

In terms of the Submarines’ next match, the Manager said it will be a tough test: “Now we have to think about the next match. Espanyol have the team to finish in the top ten in LaLiga. We mustn’t give them their first win at home. Their players up front are quick and also the likes of Jurado, Reyes, Baptistao and Gerard have a lot of quality”.
