The Manager highlighted the importance of the three points his side picked up vs Astana
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, was happy with the win his side achieved against Astana, in what was the Yellow SUbmarine’s debut in the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League competition: “I’m happy with the team’s effort and the result. It’s never easy to win and I’m satisfied”.
The Yellows boss reflected on his team’s intensity during different phases of the match and also recognised that Astana did create danger when they regained possesion of the ball. “We finished strong and there were times I really liked how we were playing. There were also times when we made mistakes though. I’m satisfied”. Fran Escribá also touched on the return of Cheryshev to the side and the solid peroformace from his centre backs. “The return of Cheryshev is really positive. I also have to highlight the performance of our centre backs”, the Manager emphasised.
This victory takes Villarreal to the top of Group A with three points. In the other Group match, Slavia Praga beat Maccabi Tel Aviv (1-0).
