The Yellows reserves beat Barcelona B in a spectacular match with goals from Rafa Mújica, Edu Espiau and Ahn
No team had beaten Barcelona B at the Johan Cruyff stadium this season. Villarreal B did it and by putting on a show. The Mini Submarine struck a blow to the table in their fight to occupy promotion position against a direct rival. The Yellow goals were scored by Rafa Mújica, Edu Espiau and Ahn. This is the fourth consecutive win for Villarreal B, who has five wins and a draw since the start of 2020. Spectacular.
Five goals were scored in the first half. The Yellows reserves went ahead very quickly. Sergio Lozano played a pass through and Rafa Mújica scored into the empty net after dribbling past the goalkeeper. It was the first attacking play of the match and the Yellows reserves took advantage of it.
Villarreal B wanted more and scored a second in the 27th minute. Baena made a run on the left wing, crossed the ball in and Edu Espiau headed it into the net. Amazing goal.
The match seemed on track, but Barcelona B reacted with two goals in two minutes. In the 32nd minute, Saverio scored the first after a pass from Monchu and an accurate shot which Fuoli could do nothing about. Only a few seconds later, Barcelona B scored again to make it 2-2. This time it was Gerard who placed the ball over the oncoming Villarreal B goalkeeper, much to his frustration (m. 33).
The match was crazy and Villarreal B struck again. Ahn picked up a ball at the edge of the area and let off an unstoppable right-footed effort which entered Carevic’s goal (2-3, m. 36).
In the second half, Villarreal B were very strong in defence, letting the other team off on the counter-attack. First Rafa Mújica did not connect well with a cross from Migue in the 65th minute, while in injury time it was was Álex Millán who didn’t score due to a great piece of defending on the goal line.
