Miguel Álvarez expects a tough match against a complete opponent who are in a good run

Villarreal B manager Miguel Álvarez analysed the upcoming game against CD Ebro at the Mini Estadi (Saturday, 5pm CEST). The Mini Submarine manager expects a tough, well-contested match against a good opponent: “We’re coming into the game after putting in a complete performance against Espanyol. We put together a first half full of nice play, and the second half we had to put a shift in against a tough opponent. The win strengthens us, but our opponents are also in good form. It will be a very difficult match. They’re doing well away from home.”

Furthermore, the coach hailed CD Ebro’s impressive season so far: “They’re a team that are having a great second half of the season. They’re getting better and better. They’re a side with quality who have a number of ways of playing. At home, they’re a more direct team, while away from home, they play a different game, making the most of the counter-attack and set pieces.”

Álvarez underlined the difficulty of the second round of fixtures: “In this second round, there are a lot of opponents who are in good runs and want to cut the gap on the top like Espanyol and Olot… This is a very competitive league.”
