Villarreal has backed its virtual team in the absence of sporting activity

With a lack of sporting activity for Villarreal CF teams, the Yellows have underlined their support for eSports. Since the period of lockdown declared by the country’s authorities, the Submarine have backed this virtual way of playing, taking part in various competitions.

Last week, Manu Morlanes represented Villarreal CF in #LaLigaSantanderChallenge, a FIFA20 fundraising tournament, where 18 of the 20 top-flight teams took part, raising around 180,000 Euros, which will go to UNICEF in the fight against COVID-19. In the Round of 16, the midfielder beat Valencia CF player Carlos Soler. In the next round, he faced Marco Asensio, who beat Morlanes on his way to being crowned tournament winner.

That same week, Villarreal CF also took part in the #StayAtHome tournament, an international tournament where the Yellows faced US Sassuolo, Valencia CF, UC Sampdoria, Real Zaragoza, SD Huesca, Bologna FC, Parma and Hashtag United. In that tournament, the Yellows were represented by official CVF eSports players Klose and Ralfitita.

Villarreal also last February took part in the eLaLiga Santander tournament, the official Spanish FIFA20 tournament, backed by LaLiga and Electronic Arts (EA). Ralfitita was runner-up in that tournament, which had more than 3,000 participants.

The Submarine’s eSports team’s games can be shown on the official Villarreal CF eSports Twitch channel, while you can keep up to date with the latest on their Twitter account: @CVFeSports.
