The midfielder from Asturias confirms she will stay with Villarreal Women’s team
Villarreal CF and María Cienfuegos Baragaño (08/04/2001, Langreo, Asturias) have reached an agreement for the Asturian midfielder to continue wearing the yellow shirt next season. Cienfu will remain linked to Villarreal CF until 30 June 2023.
The midfielder joined Villarreal Women in the 2020/21 season, a historic campaign for the ‘groguetes’ thanks to a dream season that saw them promoted to Primera Iberdrola. In her debut in the top league of Spanish women’s football, Cienfu played in 29 matches, starting 22 of them. Despite her young age, she has become a key player in the Villarreal Women’s midfield. Her talent on the ball and her fearlessness have allowed her to improve match after match.
The player from Asturias becomes the ninth Villarreal Women’s player for the 2022/23 season. María Cienfuegos is joined by Tere Morató, Sheila Guijarro, Lara Mata, Irene Miguélez, Vera Rico, Elena de Toro, Belén Martínez and Yenifer Giménez.
