Villarreal Ladies C have won their league with four games left
Villarreal Ladies C have been named Segunda Regional Femenina Group 1 champions after winning 1-2 away to the team second in the league, La Creu La Pobla de Farnals. They have become the second Yellows Academy team to lift their title after the men’s U19s (Juvenil A) managed to win their División de Honor group.
The Yellow Submarine took the three points in a tight match which neither team played a misplaced pass. Vera Vicente put the team managed by David García and Clara Martínez a goal up before the break. In the second half, the home side equalised, but a Maria Ortells strike four minutes from the end helped the three points and league title come to Vila-real.
It is worth underlining that after the win, the Yellows are nine points clear with four matchdays left. However, they are mathematical champions as one of the games left is against El Puig, who are now not involved in the league. Claudia Baila is the competition’s top scorer, with 32 goals. Next up for Villarreal Ladies C is a game against Moncofa FC at home, in a match which is sure to be a party.
