The Yellows boss praised his team’s character and performance at the Camp Nou
Villarreal CF manager, Javi Calleja, spoke to the press after the match against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou (2-1). The Yellows boss highlighted his side’s fine display and the prevailing equality during the encounter: “It was an even match. The team showed character and were not broken down in any moment. A draw would have been the fairest result. They were more clinical and that meant the game, which was very open for both teams, went their way in the end.”
Likewise, Calleja praised his players’ work rate and stated that the Submarine deserved more from the game: “We were organised and we stopped them advancing in several phases of the match. We kept the ball for long spells and, in the second half, we tried to make things difficult for them with the speed of our attackers. What we lacked was creating more danger when we were the ones dominating.”
