Asenjo believes the way to get a result at the Villamarín is to improve defensively

Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo made the most of his visit to the Cardenal Herrera University (CEU) in Castellón to analyse the current goings-on regarding the Yellows to the media present at the event. He underlined the pride and the class the Yellow Submarine showed against Barcelona: “We’re fighting hard to stay up. After the blow against Celta, we were capable of turning things around after going two goals down to FC Barcelona. That shows a lot of good qualities we have, the pride the team has and that we want to get out of this situation.”

Futhermore, the Spain international, who is the goalkeeper who has made the most saves in LaLiga this season, underlined the difficulty of the final stage of the season: “There are eight games left and there isn’t a match where there’s nothing to play for. Every team has an objective. There’s a dramatic run-in to the season ahead of us and we must be prepared for it.”

Finally, Asenjo recognised that Villarreal will try to beat Betis: “We must focus on the good things we’ve done in the past week and try and regain that defensive security to face Betis. Three points at the Villamarín would be a massive boost.”
